Kalamazoo County Government is the first to join new Network
KALAMAZOO, MI – Sept. 12, 2023 – Marathon Health, a leading provider of direct primary care for employers, today announced its expansion into Kalamazoo, Michigan, with the opening of its newest Network health center. Kalamazoo is now the eighth U.S. market where Marathon operates its Network model, offering accessible, independent and personalized primary care to employers of all sizes.
Marathon Health works with employers to build and operate onsite, Network and virtual health centers. With over 300 health centers in 43 states and over 1.2 million members, the health centers share the same focus: providing high-touch care for employees and their families, while reducing the overall cost of healthcare for both the employee and employer.
Kalamazoo County Government is the first organization to partner with the new Marathon Health Network in the city. The health center provides over 850 county employees and their families with fast, convenient and free access to primary care, sick care, screenings, blood work, medication management, behavioral health, physical therapy and health coaching, among several other services.
“Kalamazoo County truly values our employees,” said Kevin Catlin, Kalamazoo County Administrator. “Our motto is ‘in pursuit of extraordinary governance’; we believe that for our employees to be extraordinary, they have to take ownership of their health. Offering this health clinic as a free benefit to employees really elevates our motto and mission to produce extraordinary results in Kalamazoo County.”
Because the health center is part of Marathon Health’s shared Network model, other employers in Kalamazoo and the surrounding area can sign on, as well. Marathon Health Networks are open to all employers in a region — with no size or industry restrictions — who share a commitment to keeping their community healthy, happy and productive. The Networks are typically located in popular shopping districts where employees and their families live, work and attend school to make them easily accessible.
“It’s always exciting to open a new Marathon Health Network and we are proud to support Kalamazoo County as they help their employees and families live healthier,” said Jeff Wells, MD, CEO and co-founder of Marathon Health. “Expanding Marathon Health’s exceptional healthcare and employer benefits across the U.S. further enhances our role as a leader in value-based healthcare: helping members have access to important health and wellness resources – all while supporting businesses, both small and large, by reducing health plan costs.”
Marathon Health saves its clients up to $2,000 per engaged member per year on healthcare costs and is on a mission to be the most trusted healthcare solution for employer organizations nationwide.
