I had been struggling with depression and anxiety when my primary care physician diagnosed me with high blood pressure. I was also pre-diabetic and relied on several medications, including an antidepressant. These issues were affecting both my physical and mental health, so I knew something needed to change.
I made an appointment at the Chesapeake Public Schools Health Center and met with Medical Assistant Lucretia Brown. She listened to me and understood my concerns, then she ran some tests. After reviewing the results, she gave me some suggestions to try to get my life back.
I listened to her suggestions and took her advice. I’ve changed my diet, I work out at least five days every week, and I walk my dog every day. In the past year I have lost 65 pounds! I feel great and I’m no longer pre-diabetic.
Since visiting the CPS Health Center Clinic, I no longer need to take blood pressure medication, and I’m even working with my doctor to stop taking antidepressants. My health has improved and my life has changed for the better. I feel 20 years younger! I can do more physical things now than I ever could before.
Consistency is the key to any success, whether it’s physical, mental or emotional. You have to believe in yourself so you can take your life back, and a visit to the Marathon Health Center Clinics is a great way to start. — Member Marcella Morton Dozier
