BEHIND THE CARE

Voices behind Marathon Health: our story in their words

Feeling heard from day one

Sue: "When I came to Marathon, I felt like my concerns were heard."

Chris: "You having someone who truly knows you and knows where you come from and kind of that journey you've been on."

Monica: "I feel really special to work for a company that cares about my health. It makes me really excited for my future here."

Care built around the patient, not the system

Dr. Mike:
"It's a value-based care rather than fee for service. So I'm not motivated to do anything other than what is absolutely best for the patient and that's really satisfying for you."

Dr. Poptik: "I can honestly say that when I came to Marathon, it was a life-changing decision for me. I love being a physician. There's nothing else on this planet that you could have given me other than being a mom that I would've picked."

What it means to truly take care of people

Monica:
"Knowing that associates are getting the care that they need when they need it and that they love the care that they're getting is huge for us."

Carl: "It's something that every union should be doing because it's what we're in business to do, which is to service our members."

Protecting employees and controlling costs

Judy:
"It's tremendously important for our employees to understand the value of the Marathon program. Healthcare costs are just out of control and employers are having to make changes and shift a lot of the costs to the employees. Akron Public Schools hasn't had to do that because of some of the cost containment that we realized by having that Marathon program in place."

Sue: "They didn't have to do that. They could have left us to the wolves. We could have gone anywhere, but I think word is out that Marathon is where you need to go."

Care for the people who keep America running

Monica:
"We have welders. It's hot. We're in Indiana and they work through all conditions and Marathon really allows us to be able to take care of them as a thank you to the work that they do for us."

What advanced primary care really means

Dr. Poptik:
"Advanced primary care is essentially using all of the resources available from your physician and their team to provide care over your lifetime. So that includes things like preventive medicine, acute care, urgent care, chronic disease management, mental healthcare, family planning, all of those things that go into keeping a family healthy."

Healthcare the way it should be

Taylor:
"I am so appreciative to have my husband's healthcare. I tell him all the time I don't know what I do because Marathon Health is just so easy for me to just call and get in."

Jon: "It is the way people should experience a visit with a provider."

Kim: "You work with friends and so you want them to get the best care possible."

Kendra: "When you walk into the clinic, you can feel this is not just a job to them. This is a passion."

Health that changes lives

Benjamin:
"Oh, I definitely feel like going to Marathon has helped me to be a better father, a better husband, a better dad, and a better grandfather as well because I'm able to not let my health stop me from doing those things that you do with your grandkids. That's the fun part about it, to be healthy and to hopefully encourage them to do the same thing. Come on, let's go. Let's go. Let's go."
