Nirav Vakharia, MD, serves as Chief Health Officer and is responsible for the clinical strategy development and management of Marathon Health’s population health model of care. In addition to being a practicing primary care physician, he brings a wealth of experience in value-based care, quality and safety improvement, practice management, and innovative clinical program design. Most recently, he served as the Chief Medical Officer at Panoramic Health, the nation’s largest value-based provider for kidney and metabolic disease patients. Before that, he served as the General Manager of US Clinical Operations at eMed (formerly Babylon), which brought value-based primary care and behavioral health to Medicaid populations across the US.
Nirav is the former President of the Cleveland Clinic’s Accountable Care Organization, where he led the health system’s development of its population health strategy to improve the clinical and financial outcomes for over 400,000 at-risk lives.
He received his MD from Harvard Medical School, and completed training in internal medicine and a chief residency at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. Before entering medicine, he worked as a middle school math and science teacher in Washington, DC.
