At Marathon Health, we understand that the interview process is a two-way street. While we want to ensure we have thoroughly assessed your skills, experience and alignment with our mission and culture, we appreciate that you also need to determine if we’re the right fit for your career goals.

We’ve designed a thorough yet engaging interview process that can help ensure it is a mutually good fit for everyone. Included below is a guide to what you can typically expect as you navigate our interview process.

Step 1: Initial Phone Screen with a Talent Acquisition Partner

The first step in our interview process is normally a 30-minute phone conversation with one of our Talent Acquisition Partners (TAP). During this call, our TAP will learn more about you – your professional experience, work history, and fit for the role you’ve applied for.

Be prepared to:

  • Discuss your work history: Highlight your relevant experience, responsibilities, and accomplishments.
  • Explain any employment gaps: Be honest and provide context for any breaks in your work history.
  • Showcase your fit: Explain how your skills and experience align with the job’s requirements.
  • Share your motivations: Be prepared to articulate why you’re interested in Marathon Health and the specific opportunity you’re interviewing for.

In return, the TAP will share high-level information about the role, our organization’s innovative care model, and our mission to be torchbearers for better health. This is also your opportunity to ask questions about our culture and values. TA will walk you through next steps of the interview process and help get you scheduled for next steps.

Step 2: Virtual Interview with the Hiring Manager

If the initial screen goes well, the next step is usually a virtual interview with the hiring manager (HM) for the role. During this conversation, the HM will delve deeper into the specific responsibilities and expectations of the position.

To prepare:

  • Review behavioral interview questions: Be ready to share examples of how you’ve handled past workplace situations that demonstrate your problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
  • Ask role-specific questions: Use this opportunity to clarify the role’s requirements and expectations. The HM can also provide more specifics around the schedule for the role, team dynamics, etc.

This interview is a key step in determining whether your skills and experience align with the hiring manager’s needs and expectations.

Step 3: Clinical Screen (For Clinical Roles)

If you’re applying for a clinical role, you’ll typically have an additional virtual interview with a clinical leader within our organization. This step is designed to further assess your clinical expertise and approach to patient care.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Situational clinical questions: Be prepared to discuss how you would handle specific patient care scenarios.
  • Specific patient care experience: You will be asked to speak to your experience and comfortability with certain clinical procedures and responsibilities (i.e. phlebotomy, charting, sutures, prescribing, etc.).
  • Patient care philosophy: Share insights into your approach to patient care and how it aligns with our company values.

This interview helps us ensure that your clinical skills and philosophy of care align with Marathon Health’s patient-centered care approach and the needs for the specific role.

Step 4: Team Interviews

Next, you’ll likely have the chance to meet with the team you would be working with in your role. These interviews help evaluate how well you would integrate with the team and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment. For clinical roles, this step may include a more detailed discussion about the day-to-day operations of the health center.

Step 5: On-Site Meet and Greet (For Clinical Roles)

For roles based in our health centers, the final step often includes a meet and greet with representatives from the local customer team. This interaction gives both the candidate and customer a chance to ensure cultural alignment. We want to ensure that you are not only a fit for Marathon Health, but also for the specific patient population you’d be serving.

This step is invaluable in confirming that your personality and approach to care will resonate with the patient community and the teammates you’ll be working alongside.

Preparing for Success

To make the most of the interview process at Marathon Health:

  1. Research our organization: Familiarize yourself with our mission, care model, and culture. Understanding what it means to be a torchbearer for better health will better help you explain why you’re excited to join us.
  2. Prepare your stories: Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to craft concise and compelling responses to behavioral and situational interview questions. Pull examples from your work experience that seem most relevant to the requirements of the role.
  3. Engage authentically: We value authenticity, so don’t hesitate to share your unique perspectives and experiences.
  4. Ask thoughtful questions: This is your chance to ensure we’re the right fit for you, too! Inquire about our values, growth opportunities, team dynamics, and anything else that is important to you as you decide on the next step in your career.

At Marathon Health, we’re committed to finding the best fit for both our teams and our candidates. We look forward to getting to know you and exploring how you can contribute to our mission of transforming healthcare for the better.
