Everside Health (formerly Paladina Health, Activate Healthcare and Healthstat) has hired Brian Cappel as Vice President of Taft-Hartley Plans for Activate by Everside Health division, which is dedicated exclusively to meeting the healthcare needs of unions across the country. The Activate division of Everside Health was created after the former Activate Healthcare was acquired. Activate had a long history of partnering with unions, and that successful track record continues today under the Everside brand. Everside Health is one of the largest direct primary care providers in the country, serving over 65,000 Taft-Hartley union members in the U.S. through its Activate division.

With more than 15 years of Taft-Hartley experience at multiple fund offices, Cappel brings a behind-the-scenes perspective on implementing creative healthcare strategies which provide a great member experience and significant cost savings. Previously, he was a Director of Operations with the Midwest Operating Engineers Fringe Benefit Fund (IUOE Local 150) where he managed a team of more than 100 staff members providing services to over 55,000 individuals annually. He oversaw several on-site and near site health centers, helping union members and their families receive affordable and high-quality health care.

At Activate by Everside Health, Cappel will have responsibility for development of new union business as well as consulting with existing union clients, in partnership with the division’s operations team on best practices, data analytics, and reporting.

“Activate by Everside Health is committed to serving union members and their families and we’re pleased to have Brian on board to help us continue to develop this fast-growing segment of our business,” said Chris Miller, CEO of Everside. “Brian understands the unique challenges and health needs of union members and he will be able to formulate plans based on individual members’ needs.”
The services of Activate by Everside Health are covered under a fixed monthly fee that is paid for by the union’s Health and Welfare fund. As a result, clinic visits are free, with no co-pay, making it easy and affordable for union members and their families to proactively manage their health. Another benefit of union-provided care is that members typically maintain benefits over their entire careers, versus changing plans as they change jobs.

“I’m excited to join Everside Health that is dedicated to providing union members and their families with the quality health care they deserve,” said Cappel. “I’m looking forward to consulting with our existing clients and expanding our reach to offer our services to more unions and Taft-Hartley plans throughout the U.S.”
