I gained weight rapidly due to a combination of poor health habits and a new medication. I felt sluggish and lazy and lacked the motivation to change. Low self-esteem and anxiety were getting the best of me.
I can access health coaching through my employer-offered health benefits, so I started meeting with Carrie Clausen, RN health coach. She mentored me every week for a year and provided vital health info, support, patience, and accountability.
Carrie understood and empathized with my struggles, and never made me feel bad when I had an “off” week. She gave me recipes, nutritional info, and workout plans to ensure I was well equipped to meet my health goals. She constantly motivated me and celebrated my wins. We started slow, which made my healthy lifestyle stick.
With many thanks to Carrie, I lost 20 pounds in a year! I consider it a major accomplishment because I did not think I could change. My health today is leaps and bounds ahead of where it was before I met Carrie. It has changed my life for the better.
I eat much better now. I used to get out of breath walking a mile, but now I can walk six miles and feel great. My heart palpitations have mostly gone away. I struggle now and then, but I’m now the healthiest I’ve ever been in my life. I still have a ways to go to meet my health goals, but Carrie has given me the resources to succeed.
