When I first started visiting the Marathon Health @Northlake Network location through my employer City of Charlotte in 2018, I was obese. I originally visited for my wellness screenings only, but then decided to get regular/yearly physicals because I was so impressed with the staff and services I received.
The doctor brought potential health risks to my attention, like weight, cholesterol and blood pressure. With getting older, being obese would cause further health issues. She kindly explained to me that some of my lab results were elevated and by losing weight I could reverse those issues. The doctor didn’t try to scare me into weight loss, she was honest and offered a lot of insight.
Since then, I’ve made changes to my diet and eating pattern, which has led to a significant weight loss of over 100 pounds. I’m very healthy, my weight is in the normal range and there are no longer concerns with my lab results. I’m able to do more now and I just feel better overall.
I recommend seeing a primary care doctor on a normal basis and trying to make small, sustainable improvements with your health over time. — India Simpson, Marathon Health Member
