I was diagnosed with high blood glucose through blood work and evaluations from my physician. I had high levels of fatigue which caused my quality of life to deteriorate. I decided to visit Marathon Health at Morgan Foods in Austin, Indiana, where I met Health Coach Teresa Stackhouse and Physician Assistant Adam Lawson.
Adam reviewed my lab work and during our coaching sessions, Teresa helped me develop an effective strategy that fell in line with my new health vision. With new reachable goals set, I was inspired to make the necessary changes to improve my overall health and fitness.
I eliminated soda from my diet and substituted it with water with lemon. I tracked my food, and I found alternative healthy natural foods to put in place of the starchy, sugary foods that I had craved for years.
After seeing a podiatrist and my health coach, I was educated on the causes of Plantar Fasciitis and began a daily stretching routine that got me back to hiking with my loving wife again. Because my job requires sitting, I worked through basic steps to get me out of my chair more and to begin activities and light exercise.
With the help of health coaching strategies (diet and exercise) and determination, I was able to lose 22.2 pounds. I have a greater sense of well-being. It has been so encouraging to me that I now have new goals for improved health and energy.
It’s possible to turn poor health around. With the right help, direction and motivation, you will be happily surprised at how quickly your health can improve. If you can press past negative thoughts of “it’s too late” or “not for me” and make that first step, in a few days those thoughts will be replaced with words like…“Hey, this is working, and I can really do this.” — John Bowling, Marathon Health Member
