I’ve had an ongoing battle with anxiety while trying to work from home and homeschool two children during the COVID-19 pandemic. I have also experienced bloating, menstrual cramping, lower back pain, and extreme fatigue.
Realizing I needed support, I took advantage of the access to healthcare I had through my employer-sponsored Marathon Health benefits. To get started, I scheduled a virtual visit with Heather Biro, RN health coach.
Heather and I discussed my anxiety issues and she shared her concerns. She also urged me to see my obstetrician, because my physical symptoms were similar to ovarian cancer.
I immediately made an appointment and found out I have a growing uterine polyp. If it weren’t for Heather’s care and concern, I would have delayed the issue longer, possibly resulting in something worse.
I continue to eat healthy in an attempt to lose weight and take medication to deal with my anxiety while I await surgery. I am looking forward to having the polyp removed, so I can continue with my healthy living. Until then, I remain positive knowing I have Heather’s full support.
Heather has always gone above and beyond to help me with my mental and physical health. We are all struggling in so many ways because of the pandemic, and Heather reminded me I am not the only one experiencing anxiety and I am not crazy.
Mothers always come last, as we care for our children and family first. We are the leaders, and if we are not okay, how can we expect to care for our children?
