Pride in Receiving the American Heart Association Award

January 29th, 2014 | 1 min. read

By Marathon Health

We’re starting to sound like a broken record here, but the good news keeps on coming. We’re proud to announce that the cities of Plantation, Fla. and Fort Lauderdale, Fla. both recently received the American Heart Association’s Platinum Award Recognition for Fit-Friendly Worksites. Only 10 cities received Platinum status last year, and to have two of them be Marathon Health customers is quite an accomplishment.

Each year the American Heart Association recognizes employers who go above and beyond when it comes to their employees’ health. The AHA rewards companies for their progressive leadership and highlights their concern for their staff.

In order to receive Platinum status, a worksite must implement at least six physical activities, two nutritional activities, and demonstrated at least one behavior change or achieved a positive return on investment.

Studies suggest that by starting a worksite physical activity program and promoting a culture of activity, you can:

  • Increase productivity
  • Reduce absenteeism
  • Lower turnover
  • Reduce healthcare costs

Besides benefiting companies, a healthier workplace helps employees live healthier, longer lives.

Congratulations to both Plantation and Fort Lauderdale! Plantation is one of our oldest customers, and the engagement rates and reduction in high risk prevalence rates achieved there is nothing short of amazing. Fort Lauderdale is one of our newer customers, but the clinical team there has hit the ground running and helped employees there change the way they experience healthcare. We recently met with some patients from Fort Lauderdale and the success stories they had to share were truly inspiring. We’ll soon be able to share some of those videos with you.

Keep up the good work. It matters.
